tonight i witnessed a most horrific spectacle
i’ve been trying for a while now to meet the haitian migrants detained by the guyana govt
what most people dont know is that while being a member of caricom haitians need visas to enter EVERY caricom territory
i was fortunate to get to the gate of the night shelter where the govt is holding i think 10 haitian nationals
they’ve already made plans to deport 14-20 women and children tomor
the security guard was hostile as soon as we entered
a woman who i think is a cleaner was even more hostile than the security guard
i simply said, i am here to see the haitians you have here
WHO ARE YOU?
to make a long story short
the supervisor was called and she also hostile to the point she refused to shake my out stretched hand
she in turn called a police officer who was sitting in an area guarding the haitians
he said he was under orders that no one should have contact with them
what most intrigued me was the revolved he had in his pocket
i asked him if the haitians were under arrest or prisoners
he had no answer
tomorrow is a new day
but am putting the big negroes of the govt on notice
don’t think for one minute you will be allowed to disrespect and ill treat these haitians or any other haitians to follow
simple farmer
