Jamaican artist Joavan Puran in Guyana for exhibition July 21 to 26

Jamaican artist Joavan Puran will be holding an exhibition at the Museum of African History MAH, Bel Air Park, Georgetown from Tuesday, July 21st to Sunday July 26. He will also be holding a live session on the avenue in Main Street on Wednesday, 22nd July, opposite the National Library, and the Square of the Revolution on Saturday 25th July 2015 at 5.00 pm.

Artist Joavan Puran has been involved in the growth and development of contemporary art in Jamaica for the past decade. Mr Puran graduated from Edna Manley College of Visual arts with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and has since been the resident muralist for Bob Marley Foundation in Kingston Jamaica. Joavan’s work has been featured in various forums including UWI Mona, Tuff Gong international and the Ministry of Tourism. Joavan recently was the featured artist on International Reggae Day July 1 2015, digital art exhibit streamed in seven cities across the world. Joavan’s work is primarily focused on the Rastafari cultural group of which he is a part and also involves in community development projects and art workshops. Joavan is interested in issues faced by people of the Caribbean Region on a whole and sees his work as a response to these issues.
