The latest news of a suspect being held for questioning in relation to the Courtney Crum-Ewing murder was greeted by many with euphoria. I had my doubts.
There are two ‘suspects’ in Police custody for the murder of Courtney Crum-Ewing and if brought before a non-kangaroo court both will walk free for lack of evidence and illegal procedures.
The main suspect is Regan Rodrigues aka grey boy who turned himself in after hearing he was wanted. In police parlance grey boy is a ‘known character.’ He spent 12 years in prison for robbery and is a regular guest at police stations for crimes real and imagined.
Rodrigues is probably most known for the Constable Romain Cleto murder. He was the second person picked up, tortured and ‘identified’ in a police lineup. The first ‘suspect’ Shaka Chase was brutally tortured and forced to sign a confession. Just like the first ‘suspect’ Rodrigues was ordered free by the DPP.
To date, no one has been charged with the murder of Constable Romain Cleto.
Sometime last week the Police went to Grey Boy’s house when he was not there and searched it. They claim they found a gun ‘connected’ to the Crum-Ewing murder. What ‘connected’ means only the Crime and friends knows as they’ve also told their suspect they know he didn’t do the shooting.
Does it make sense that a man who is regularly picked and searched up by police would be keeping the Crum-Ewing murder weapon at his house? a murder he did not commit according to the police? [grey boy lives around the corner from the ruimveldt station!]
After Crum-Ewing shooting, Rodrigues went to Eve Leary. He says he met with senior CID ranks and explained to them that he believes the man who wanted him to murder Mark Benschop weeks earlier should be checked out.
Weeks prior Rodrigues says he went to Eve Leary after a man offered him 3 million to murder Mark Benschop. He provided them with the man’s name and his license plates. Senior Police Officers at CID told him they would look into the matter and that seems to be the end of that.
it is Rodrigues statement to the crime chief and other senior ranks that led the commissioner of police to say he believes the crime is politically connected. Unfortunately some of us have become accustomed to the discordant and meaningless mixture of sounds coming from Eve Leary.
Arresting poor disposable souls and pinning crimes on them has gone on for too long. if the crime chief or the commissioner have any decency they would do either of two things. seriously investigate this murder or step down and put an end to this hoax.
